Petrova, S.(2001) 'Czech Glass'. Prague: Gallery, 298 pp. ISBN 80-86010-475-7.
Published in both English (ISBN 80-86010-44-9) and Czech (ISBN 80-86010-475-7) languages 'Czech Glass' concluded a period of extended research supported by a large Czech Republic Research Grant from the Czech Ministry of Culture (£38.000), a British Academy Grant (£5.000) and research support from the University of Sunderland.
- The research focused on Czech Glass and its important contribution within the context of world glassmaking. This phenomenon had not been possible to research in detail before, but a change in the political regime enabled the release of vital information that had been inaccessible to researchers.
- The fundamental research protocol of the book is an analysis and evaluation of the development of Czech Glass in the 20th Century, supported by extensive biographical, bibliographical and related primary sources. The research and subsequent publication of the book has significantly added to and challenged histories of glassmaking in the 20th Century.
- The Czech language version was launched in Prague 2001 and the English version in Sunderland, London, Tokyo, and Chicago 2002; and Amsterdam 2003. The author was also invited to lecture at a number of international venues, including Corning, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Brighton, Sunderland, Prague, and Kurashiki.
- Czech Glass received 1st Prize in the Czech Republic National Award 'The Most Beautiful Book of the Year 2001' in 2002.
- Reviews related include: Germany: Neues Glas, 1/2002, p. 29 , Czech Republic: Atelier, 2002,5, No12, p. 5-6, Craft, London UK, 2002/176, p.83, the Czech and local UK newspapers.

- The book (exhibition catalogue)'Czech Glass-Captured Light and Space' is sole authored, researched and written. It accompanied the sole curated major international touring exhibition, with 75 core art pieces, which traces the best in the contemporary Czech glass scene in recent years.
- 'Czech Glass - Captured Light and Space' was opened in presence of the Czech Prime Minister and shown at the Nostic's Palace, Prague, Czech Republic. 25. 11. 2004 - 06.05. 2005,
then toured to the Municipal Gallery, Toyama, Japan. 18.08. 2005 - 10.10. 2005. - Both the book and exhibition have received international attention and were reviewed in Neues Glas, (Germany) SGC Network UK and was the subject of numerous reports on Czech and Japanese Television, radio and newspaper reviews.
- Articles related to the project were published in Japan (Glass Move, Vol.2, pp. 7-8. 2006), UK (Studio glass, London, p.19-22., 2005.), Czech Republic (Dolce Vita, Prague, No12, p 46-49. 2004), and Germany (Neues Glas No. 4, 2004, p.15 - 21.).
- Lectures on the subject were presented in UK: London (2005), Sunderland (2005), in Japan: Toyama City Gallery 2005) and Toyama Institute of Glass Art 2005).
The author received an Honorary Award 2005 of The Commissionaire the Czech Republic EXPO 2005 in Aichi Japan for the both - book and exhibition. - Petrova, S. (2007) 'Czech and Slovak Glass in Exile'. Prague: Kant - Brno: Moravian Gallery, 144 pp. ISBNs: 978-80-86970-49-3 (Kant) 978-80-7027-172-8 (Moravian Gallery).
The research is focused on the production of a critical analysis of how Czech and Slovak glass artists and their respective works have influenced international glass. Primary research was undertaken in nine countries (USA, Australia, France, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Bulgaria, UK and Sweden). The book and exhibition provide a definitive overview of how ideas relating to, and emerging from Czech and Slovak glass were incorporated into historic and contemporary practice in different cultural contexts, and influenced international collaborative networks within museums, libraries and academic institutions across different countries. Craft and art glass were explored through research into 18th and 19th Centuries, but the main emphasis focused on detailed evaluation of the 20th Century glass exiles. Note: "exile" in the title is symbolic and relates more to the dissemination of ideas in glass, than to the issue of emigration from a political standpoint.
Supported by a British Academy Grant, 2005-2007 (£ 18,700), the book is published in the two versions in English and Czech languages (ISBN 978-807027-165-0). An exhibition, containing 105 exemplars, dating from the 19th- 20th Century was curated by the author. The project was supported by the Ministry of Culture and was under auspices the Minister of Foreign Affairs Czech Republic. - Exhibition venues are in the Czech Republic, Brno (Moravian Gallery 30.08. 2007 - 06. 08. 2008) and in the Slovakian Republic (National Gallery 26.02 - 11.05. May 2008) in prospect are venues in Strasbourg, New York, Riihimakki (Finland) and Sofia (Bulgaria). The author was invited to give lectures in Brno and in Manchester.
- Both the book and exhibition have received international attention and were reviewed (so far) in the Czech Republic (Lidové noviny, 1.9.07) other reviews are going to be published in Germany (Neues Glas). The author was interviewed by numerous Czech radio and TV channels.

The research protocol that formed the context for the project 'A History of Czech Visual Art 1939-1958' was to invite a group of established researchers to identify, collate and critically evaluate information relating to Czech visual art in the 20th century. The project - which lasted seven years, was to be accomplished without political restrictions and would culminate in a major publication.
Overseeing the project was the Czech Republic's Academy of Science, itself a major research institution of international renown and the highest standards. Petrova's personal contributions focused on research into Glass and Ceramics during the periods 1939-48 and 1948-1958. One of the major outcomes of the extensive research was to add to existing knowledge but, of perhaps more significance was the way in which the new body of knowledge was employed to correct earlier, less rigorous histories. The project was support by the team Grant Agency CR Grant No 404/96/1291 and 408/99/1148.
History of Czech Visual Art VI. received the 3rd Prize in the Czech Republic National Award 'The Most Beautiful Book of the Year 2005' in 2006.
Each of the team members was awarded The Award of Academia of Science of the Czech Republic for research output.

Advisor of the project European Art Glass since World War II. And Catalogue of European Glass Artists. 2 CDs, colour, 240 min, published by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague 2004.
The aim of the project was to present the European glass scene at the time of its production. The diversity of styles and techniques that can be found in various European glass centres is unique and fascinating. Thanks to the project this knowledge and mastery is now accessible to the general public. CDs are serving as a unique source of information for researchers, educators, students and collectors.
The project has been carried out with the support of European Community, particularly within Programme Culture 200 Brussels, which submitted financial sources £250,000. The additional support arrived from the Ministry of Culture the Czech Republic. The project was set-up and carried out by the three glass research European institutions : by the Museum of Decorative Art in Prague- Czech Republic, University of Sunderland, UK, and Institute for Craft and Art Mechelen- Belgium.
Research resulted in 2 DVDs which present art in Glass by 105 artists from 11 European countries altogether. The work of 79 of them is recorded on 4 hours film, the work of 39 artists is documented on in photo-supplement in bonus.
