Outline Methodology
- A literature review will be undertaken to define mimesis in relation to art, locating precedents in ceramic practice.
- Case studies of ceramicists referencing mimesis in their work will also be carried out.
- A practical investigation mimicking objects through ceramic processes and materials will also be acheived.
- The three activities above will lead to the creation of an informed body of artwork, articulating the nature of clay as a mimetic construct further positioned within the field of ceramic practice by a final contextual review.
