Submission Guidelines
The guidelines cover written submissions for the Journal for both refereed and non refereed articles.
Acceptance of academic papers will be subject to peer review. Reviewers are asked to comment on the quality, relevance and clarity of the article. Referees will make one of three decisions on each submission; accept for publication, recommend for modification prior to publication, or reject for publication.
Submissions will be considered throughout the year. Articles can include visual material as well as text. You are welcome to contact the Gateway to Glass to discuss your submission before sending. If you would like to discuss your paper prior to submission please contact Professor Sylva Petrova, sylva.petrova@sunderland.ac.uk.
Articles should be in MS Word format and sent preferably via e-mail to iirg@sunderland.ac.uk.
Information to include with your submission:
- Title of the article.
- First name and surname of the author.
- Address.
- Telephone and fax number.
- Email address.
- Job title and institution (where appropriate).
- Details concerning any previous publication of all or parts of the text. Please do not submit papers that are under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Abstract
Please include an Abstract of no more than 150 words at the beginning of your article that summarises the key points of your piece.
Illustrations (and other material such as audio and video clips)
Authors are responsible for obtaining any illustrations or other material used in connection with their articles such as audio and videos clips, and are also responsible for securing permission for their use. You will be asked to fill an intellectual property rights form to confirm this. Images should be in either on 35mm slide or digital images in JPEG, Tiff, GIF or BMP format (minimum 640x480 screen resolution).
Layout
- Please keep the layout of your submission simple to allow for us to easily format the text in the style of the Journal.
- Please divide your articles into headed subsections.
- Insert an empty line between paragraphs and before and after indented quotations.
- Justify on left only.
- Use 1½ spacing for main text and single spacing for indented quotations.
- Do not use tabs.

References should follow the 'Harvard' system or other recognised academics systems. In the bibliography the author's name should appear first, followed by the date, title (in Italics), publisher, and place of publication.
